5 of the best caravan spots for an Australian holiday

It is amazing to be exploring the world using different forms of transport – from hitchhiking to yachts – but it’s also interesting to try out different forms of accommodation too. From hotels and hostels to cabins and huts, where you lay your head at night is pretty important and can make a real difference to the feel of your trip. That being said, a caravan park is an option that’s often a crowd-pleaser, whether you’re a family or traveling solo, as you have freedom, combined with some amenities too. Here are five of the best caravan spots for an Australian holiday.

Discovery Parks – Melbourne

Cover’s Secret Traveller blog lists Melbourne as a place you have to visit if you’re a coffee fan and the hip capital offers even more than that. Embrace the local culture, shopping, fashion, and food, and enjoy all this area has to offer. Then, at night, head back to the caravan park where you can do your laundry (so handy!), use the wifi, cook on the BBQ or socialize in the activity room or swimming pool. Discovery Parks is perfectly located for all that Melbourne has to offer.

Cairns Coconut Holiday Resort – Queensland

This park is like a little slice of heaven, located within the 28 acres of rainforest and tropical gardens. You are close to some wonderful snorkeling sites but the park itself has plenty to do, from putting on outdoor movies, to waterslides, minigolf, and playgrounds. Not to mention the ability to explore the stunning area around you.

Big 4 Peppermint Park – Western Australia

You’ll find this relaxing park right by Dunsborough, and it will soon be apparent as to why it has won awards for so many years. Nestled in the surrounding eight hectares of bushland, this park offers activities and facilities ranging from mini golf and jumping pillows to swimming pools and camping kitchens. Even without leaving the park you will find yourself with plenty to do and see, but for a romantic stroll on the sands of Geographe Bay, you are only 300 meters away.

Great Ocean Road Tourist Park – Victoria

If you want to check out the incredible 12 Apostles during your travels in Australia, this park is ideal, as it’s located right at the base of the Great Ocean Road. It’s a stunning location with breathtaking views, which explains its popularity – make sure you book in plenty of time. The park itself offers free wi-fi, playgrounds, tennis courts, a boat ramp into the river, movie hire, and even a jumping pillow, so you certainly won’t get bored!

Adventure Whitsunday Resort – Airlie Beach

This is the perfect place to stay if you want to head out to the Whitsunday Islands for some fishing, diving, and other amazing activities. However, this park is also a fantastic choice for families as, without even leaving the site, you have access to an enormous pool and waterslides, plus a 3.5-acre animal park to explore.

Australia is huge and there is so much to see and do, depending on what you’re looking for, however, these parks are a good place to start. Bases from which you can explore, but mini-adventures in their own right.
